LEADERSHIP STUDIES PROGRAM
June 15-20, 2008

ELIGIBILITY

Students in grades 6 through 11 with a desire to develop and enhance leadership abilities are eligible for the program.

PROGRAM LEADERSHIP I is a program with specific emphasis on leadership skills. Training will include those areas necessary for leadership development: fundamentals of leadership, written and oral communication, group dynamics, problem solving, planning, personal skills, and decision making. Avenues for becoming leaders in school, community, and religious affiliation will be utilized to heighten the awareness and development of leadership potential.

LEADERSHIP II, a continuation of Leadership I, is an intense study to further develop leadership concepts and qualities. Emphasis will be placed on the psychology of leadership, assertiveness training, and situational leadership.

LEADERSHIP III is an extension of the program, with training focusing on the legal aspects of leadership, responsibilities of various positions of leadership, developing personal power, and leadership for the future. Students also have the opportunity for informal interaction with adult leaders.

Students will be housed in dormitories on the campus of The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Instructional activities will be conducted in classrooms on the campus. Qualified teachers, supervisors, and counselors will be with the students at all times.

COST

The total cost of $475 includes tuition, room and board, recreational activities, and limited accident insurance. Civic organizations and businesses may sponsor a student. Contact with such groups should be made directly by the teacher, school counselor, administrator, or parent. Limited financial aid is available based on need.

Your nonrefundable payment of $475 is due April 20, 2008.
