Welcome to the Union Complex at The University of Southern Mississippi. As the center of the university community, the Union Complex which consists of the Thad Cochran Center, R.C. Cook University Union and Hub, is the ideal setting for meetings, conferences and special events.

A symbol of beauty, elegance and Southern Miss heritage, the four-story Thad Cochran Center offers 237,000 square-feet of space to accommodate a variety of functions. The center houses a grand ballroom that can be divided into three rooms seating 300 each, 10 meeting rooms with a seating capacity of 20 to 175, two open pre-function areas, as well as a technology atrium.

The R.C. Cook University Union and Hub boasts approximately 75,000 square-feet of space and features numerous meeting rooms with a seating capacity of 20 to 280, a game room, lounge, large lobby or pre-function area, outdoor plaza and Seymour’s food court.

In addition, the Cook Union and Hub house administrative offices, student organization offices, a post office and convenience store.

Vision

The Union and Programs department (Union Administration, Office of Community Service Learning and Office of Student Activities) will provide a state-of-the-art facility with student-centered programs that enhance recruitment and retention of students, faculty, and staff with a commitment to institutionalizing service learning to develop more civic minded and engaged citizens.

Mission

The mission of the Union and Programs department is to provide experiences, services and programs for all members of the university family - students, faculty and staff, administrators, alumni and guests.

We provide opportunities for citizenship, social responsibility and leadership development of the people we serve through cultural, social, educational and recreational programs. We espouse community engagement through civic action and academic service learning. As the heart of the university community, the Union and Programs department complements the academic programs and enhances the overall educational experience and quality of campus life at Southern Miss.
